1. Attach the Lens Adapter Ring:

   Secure the appropriate camera lens adapter ring onto your lens by turning it clockwise until it fits firmly.

2. Mount the Flash LED Main Unit:

   Insert the mounted adapter ring into the rear interface of the LightArray Flash LED unit as shown in the image. For optimal alignment between the camera and the lighting system, place both on a flat horizontal surface. Once aligned, tighten the three thumb screws on each side of the unit until fully secured.

   

3. Install the Dummy Battery Adapter:

   Insert the power adapter designed for your camera model. Most cameras feature a small opening in the battery compartment that allows the dummy battery cable to exit while keeping the battery door closed. Once the adapter is fully inserted, guide the cable through the opening and close the door.

   

4. Connect the Flash LED Cables:

   For each of the four Flash LED modules, align the red dots on the cable connector with the corresponding port on the back of the LED unit. Firmly press the connector until you hear a click, indicating a secure connection. To disconnect, hold the metal ring or collar and gently pull the cable out.

   

5. Attach the Polarizer Cable:

   Similarly, connect the corresponding polarization unit cable to the back of the polarization filter module by aligning the connectors properly and ensuring a firm connection.

This section details the mounting and cabling procedures for the LightArray kit.

 

Note: If purchased together, the LightArray PSU and Controller units arrive pre-mounted on the Arago frame. If your units are already mounted, please proceed directly to the Camera Cabling section of this guide.

 

1. PSU Mounting

Needed Parts:

1. 1 x PSU Mounting Bracket
2. 2 x M4, 10mm-long PSU Bracket Mount Screws
3. 2 x PSU Bracket Mount T-slot Nuts
4. PSU Unit
   

Steps:

1. Pre-Mount the Bracket:

   • Insert 2 x M4, 10mm-long screws through the indicated holes in the PSU mounting bracket.
   • Slightly thread the T-slot nuts onto these screws as illustrated.
     

2. Attach the Bracket to Arago:

   • Align the bracket with the middle of Arago’s Y-axis carriage profile and slot it into place.
     
   • Begin tightening the screws using the appropriate Allen key. Ensure the T-slot nuts rotate to a vertical position inside the profile to secure the bracket. Fully tighten the screws.
     

3. Mount the PSU Unit:

   • Align the back side of the PSU unit with the mounted bracket.
   • Insert and tighten 4 x M3, 8mm-long screws through the bracket into the PSU unit.
     

4. Connect the Power Cords:

   • Attach both the input and output power cords as shown.
   • If your Arago does not have the input power cord pre-installed, refer to the provided manual for installation instructions.
     

5. Cable Management:

   • Route the power output cable through the side plate on the motor side of Arago.
   • Push the cable end through the hole in the slewing ring and secure it to the side plate with a Velcro strap. Ensure the cable is taut and does not interfere with moving elements.
     

2. Controller Mounting

Needed Parts:

1. 2 x Controller Mounting Brackets
2. 4 x M4, 16mm-long Countersink Screws
3. 4 x M3, 8mm-long Screws
4. Controller Unit
   

Steps:

1. Remove Existing Bracket Screws:

   • Remove the 2 left-hand side screws holding the pre-scanning sensor bracket located under Arago’s Tilt-head.
     

2. Mount Controller Brackets:

   • In the place of the removed screws, install one of the controller mounting brackets using 2 x M4, 16mm-long countersink screws, as shown in the image.
     
   • Repeat the process for the right-hand side.
     

3. Install the Controller Unit:

   • Align the Controller unit with the mounted brackets in your preferred orientation.
   • Secure the Controller by fastening 4 x M3, 8mm-long screws.

     

4. Connect the Power Cable:

   • Align the red orientation indicators on the power cable connector with the corresponding power input port on the Controller.
   • Push the cable in until it clicks into place.

5. Connect the LAN Cable:

   • Attach the provided short LAN cable to the Controller LAN port, then connect the other end to the LAN port located at the back of Arago’s Tilt-head.
     

3. Camera Cabling

Steps:

1. Mount the Camera:

   • Secure your camera (with the attached Flash LED unit) onto Arago.
   • Ensure all cables are routed toward the back of the Tilt-head to prevent tangling.
     

2. Connect the Trigger/Shutter Release Cable:

   • Attach and secure the trigger/shutter release cable to your camera (note that the example image is for Nikon; cable types and connector locations may vary for other brands).
     

3. Install the Hotshoe Adapter:

   • Fully insert the hotshoe adapter onto your camera’s hotshoe.
   • Secure it by rotating the lock knob underneath the adapter.
     

4. Finalize Cable Connections:

   • Connect all remaining cables to the Controller unit, matching each cable to the corresponding labeled port.
     

5. Power On and Verify Operation:

   • Turn on the LightArray system by switching to 1 the power button next to the PSU’s power input cable.
   • Verify a successful boot-up by observing the purple light on the side of the LA4 Controller unit.
